The cream of the world’s mountain bike dirt jumpers are heading to Leogang, Austria as 26Trix kicks off the Out of Bounds Festival this Thursday.
The legendary 26Trix competition has long been at the forefront of the evolution of mountain biking. Four years ago the event played host to the first ever double backflip landed in competition by Greg Watts, and the American rider will be back again this year.
Watts will be joined in Austria by a host of other top jumpers including last year’s winner Sam Pilgrim, Andreu Lacondeguy, Darren Berrecloth, Benny Korthaus and Martin Söderström. They will battle their way along the unique course which has retained the xxl-sized jumps added in 2009.
26Trix is also the official ‘gold event’ of the Freeride Mountain Bike (FMB) World Tour.
Dirt jumping is not the only draw for mountain bike fans at the festival however, as the finals of both the iXS European Downhill Cup and the iXS 4X will also take place at Leogong. The downhill action will take place on the official UCI DH World Cup course – nicknamed the ‘Speedster’ – while the 4X race will take place on the new UCI course which is only a month old.
