Chas Guldemond and Jamie Anderson prevailed over the less than ideal conditions to take victories in the first US Snowboarding Grand Prix slopestyle event at Copper Mountain.
Blustery wind and snow were on tap as the 16 men and 8 women battled it out. With TTR and FIS points on the line, the level of riding was incredibly high and the finals brought out the best snowboarders from around the world.
Coming in third place for the men was Peetu Piiroinen. He put together a strong run that mixed technical rail and jump tricks. Starting off his run with a switch hardway 270 on the first rail, he continued landing hard tricks, including a cab double cork 900 to backside 1080 combo, on the last jump to score a 78.2.
Second place belonged to Roope Tonteri. The current TTR leader was able to throw down a sick run to score an 80.2. His underflip off the pole jam was one of the best tricks of the day, and he ended things with a backside 1260 and cab 1080 on the bottom two jumps.
The win, however, went to the best rider of the day, Chas Guldemond, who put down an amazing run to score a 92.5. Stomping back-to-back 1260s, Chas’ consistent riding has been impressive to watch. He thrives in bad weather and deservedly earned the spot on top of the podium.

The women’s final saw eight of the world’s best slopestyle riders attack the course with hard tricks and style. Isabel Derungs ended the day in third place with 71.5. She had a good run, putting down a really stylish backside rodeo on the bottom jump.
Kjersti Buaas was able to stomp her run and land in second place with 74.2. Known for her smooth style, her frontside 360 stalefish to backside 540 combo on the last two jumps was one of the best lines of the day.
Standing on the top step of the podium was none other than Jamie Anderson. Putting together an almost perfect run from start to finish to earn a solid 83, she was able to continue her winning ways. She put down the best jump line of the day and ended her run with a frontside 360, backside 540 and a smooth switch backside 180.
With their wins in Copper Mountain, Chas and Jamie were able to gain valuable TTR points and take a big step toward booking their tickets to Sochi.
