Formula One title contender Sebastian Vettel has committed his future to Red Bull Racing.
The German star has signed a contract extension with the team until the end of 2011, with an option to further extend the deal through 2012.
“I am delighted that I can remain part of the Red Bull family,” Vettel said. “You know, I was and am still firmly convinced of the strength of the team. We are definitely heading in the right direction. The team has given me wings so that I can fly further.”
Team principal Christian Horner added: “It's great news for the team to have secured a longer term agreement with Sebastian which provides
important stability for us going forward.”
Vettel’s rise through the F1 ranks has been meteoric and after becoming F1’s youngest ever winner with Scuderia Toro Rosso at last year’s Italian Grand Prix, Seb moved across to Red Bull Racing for the 2009 season.
The impact was almost instantaneous and coming into the European Grand Prix, Vettel has taken two race wins for the Milton Keynes-based team, in China and then in Britain. He now lies third in the championship, just 23 points adrift of series leader Jenson Button and with seven races still to run.
Vettel’s contract extension means Red Bull Racing will field an unchanged line-up, having secured Mark Webber's services after the Australian inked a new contract at the Nürburgring.
