The snowboard season has only just begun in China’s capital but some of Beijing’s top riders are taking to the slopes today in search of a qualifying place in the Eighth Red Bull Nanshan Open.
The top six Chinese riders will advance to the Eighth Red Bull Nanshan Open on January 9 and 10 to line up alongside 22 invited professional snowboarders and compete for $25,000 prize money and Swatch TTR points.
There’s a wider range of prizes to be won, including gear from Quiksilver, Dakine and NIKE 6.0 in all sorts of categories such as Brightest Outfit and Oldest Rider. Perhaps the best prize, though, is the (small) suitcase filled with cash which is on offer to each of the top four riders.
The event is being staged at the Quiksilver Nanshan Mellow Park and is free to enter and open to all comers, regardless of age, nationality or experience.
