Parisian record spinner DJEDJOTRONIC is signed to Boys Noize Records, here he tells us about why he thinks Baby Wants To Ride is the perfect example of Chicago house.
What does Chicago mean to you?
Chicago means House music to me of course. What happened here in the 80's is basically the birth of modern dance music. There is lots of Chicago House infused new release right now. It's a major part of dance music history.
What's your favourite Chicago house track, and why?
It's hard to pick one so I'll pick two! Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle - Baby Wants To Ride. I love every element in this track. The baseline drives me crazy. Lyrics are perfect. It's exactly what I love with Chicago House, when it's sexy, dark and deep. Then Ron Hardy - Sensation, because I play it in every one of my sets.
How has the sound of Chicago influenced you, and shaped your output?
Chicago House bassline, I love them! I'll never be bored. Their structure, sometimes only two notes, that make them really effective on a dancefloor. I'm also a big fan of the TR-707 sounds.
Do you have a favourite Chicago label or DJ?
My favorite labels are Trax and Dance Mania. I think it don't need any explanation! My favorite DJs are Frankie Knuckles, DJ Funk, Green Velvet and Ron Hardy.
