Hong 10 won the Red Bull BC One in 2005. Now the South Korean B-Boy-Champ is acting as a judge. What is he looking at when the boys spin in the circle?
Red Bull BC One is the unofficial World Championship of B-Boying. What makes this event so special for you?
Because it was the battle that I first won after a series of second place wins. It broke my jinx of losing in the finals.
This year you’re acting as a judge for the first time. What will you be focusing on most in each battle?
I always look at how the B-Boy or B-Girl works with the music, their execution and the depth of their moves, their style … I want completeness.
What makes a good B-Boy in your opinion? What three characteristics does each B-Boy need to have?
Good stamina and energy, flexibility and strength and determination and enjoying hard work and a love for progress.
What are you expecting from the Red Bull BC One in Paris? And what are you looking forward to the most? Which B-Boy is your absolute top favorite – and why?
I’m looking forward to seeing the friends that I meet when I travel internationally. I have no favorites.
