Athlete Björn Dunkerbeck Ray Demski

Red Bull-backed windsurfing legend, Björn Dunkerbeck is back on top after an incredible showing at PWA Alacati 2011...

With the perfect combination of sun, waves and wind, the PWA championships event in Alacati, Turkey, provided ideal conditions for the return to glory of one of windsurfing's greatest icons.

After six days of slick slalom sailing and eleven dramatic eliminations, Red Bull Athlete Björn Dunkerbeck was crowned victorious in a competition that he had dominated from the very start.

"It's been a while since I last won a world title - about five or six years," said Dunkerbeck in an interview with ContinentSeven. "This event has been a really good one for me and I've held the lead all the way through."

Dunkerbeck's latest victory, which marks the 41st world championship title of his career, has given him enough points on the scoreboard to overthrow Antoine Albeau’s five-year stronghold on the top spot.

Now officially one of the most successful sportsmen of all time, it doesn't look as though the 41 year old will be retiring any time soon as he told ContinentSeven when they asked about his retirement plans: "Of course not, I'm having too much fun to quit. I need the thrill of competition."
