Strange carry-on luggage, ideal skiing conditions, a less-than-ideal World Cup Downhill in Lake Louise and a perfect Super-G feature in Aksel Lund Svindal’s posts this week.
November 22, Denver
No chainsaws allowed as carry-on on flights leaving Denver International Airport. In case you were considering bringing one…

November 24, Lake Louise
This blog post is for all of you in Europe who are starting to lose faith in winter. Here’s some proof it is still happening on this planet. Lots of snow in Lake Louise, Canada!

November 26, Lake Louise (FIS Downhill World Cup)
Not sure where I ended up, but think it’s around where I started, 14th. [It was.] Not very happy with that. Cool to see Kjetil [Jansrud, fellow Norwegian skier] in 11th place. Well done! Today is one of those days anything could happen. But the king from last year was still the king this year: Didier Cuche. But you’ve got to follow the race until the end, because conditions are a big factor in Lake Louise and, if they change, so could the podium. So everyone looks at the TV till the last guy is done. Hannes Reuchelt was very fast with a late start and almost won it. He skied great – a guy to look out for tomorrow as well.

November 27, Lake Louise (FIS Super-G World Cup)
Great feeling to be back on top of the podium in Super-G. Cuche looking very strong, but I got one in there today (top). And in the true spirit of the World Cup, the victory is celebrated by packing up my stuff and leaving for the next event. Beaver Creek it is! Will definitely see some of the guys at the airport hotel in Calgary for a toast at the bar.
All the best,
Aksel
