Dani Pedrosa finished second only to new Honda team-mate Casey Stoner in the first day of the latest MotoGP tests in Malaysia, and Dani can’t overstress their importance, as he tells us in his latest blog.

Hello!

Today, I am writing from Malaysia. We arrived on Sunday, and it seems that we will continue with the same weather conditions as the previous test: very hot, especially around noon, and with high humidity.

Sepang might be quite far from home in Spain, but the good thing about coming here is that we can get on the track without the risk that we will have rain and be unable to undertake any testing. It also has very long straights, some fast corners and some slow. You could say that this place has everything, so it’s good to test at Sepang when you know you can cover everything you need to.

'What I’m most looking forward to is the arrival of the first race in Qatar'

As I said last week, the important thing now is that we check that everything we tried in the first test still goes well and that it works, and gather as much information as possible to deliver good news back to the factory. I’ll also see if I’m slowly gaining enough strength in my shoulder.

This test is very important for making the time to fine-tune the bike for any circuit or circumstances. And of course, each rider is working on tuning the bike to his own desired requirements. So these workouts are so important.

I’ve really looked forward to getting on the bike here, but what I’m most looking forward to is the arrival of the first race in Qatar. That's what we all really want as riders.

Best wishes for now…

Dani
