Spanish MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa blogs on taking on the twists and turns of the energy-sapping US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca and his holiday plans as the MotoGP World Championship heads for a summer break...
Hi all,
I’m finally home after a long trip from California and an intense weekend at Laguna Seca, where we achieved a positive result for me and the team.
I’m now really looking forward to enjoying the break until mid-August and using the time to rest and get fully fit after my injury.
The truth is that the balance of the two races could not be better after returning from my injury. The Red Bull US Grand Prix is a very physically demanding race so we knew heading there that I just had to get the best possible result.
On Friday and Saturday the biggest challenge we faced was from the lack of grip on the track. But it was much better during the race.
I made a good start and although I wasn’t initially struggling to keep pace with Jorge (Lorenzo) and Casey (Stoner), but, as you know, Laguna Seca is the shortest circuit on the MotoGP calendar and there’s nowhere to hide and nowhere to rest and recover your rhythm – so I fell away in the second half of the race. Still, to come back from injury and get a podium is great news.
Now I’m going to use these first few days rest to recharge and continue soon with the preparation for Brno – that’s another demanding GP due to the heat there. But I start the summer break in good shape and knowing I just have to keep on working to get more good results.
