The dance music world has been paying tribute to French electro star DJ Mehdi, who died on Tuesday after a tragic accident at a birthday party.
DJ Mehdi, real name Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, was part of the Ed Banger collective and appeared just days ago at the UK’s Bestival. He was also a favourite of the Red Bull Music Academy’s, having lectured at the London event last year.
The accident apparently happened when Mehdi and some friends fell through a plexiglass mezzanine at the DJ’s Paris apartment during a party for fellow Carte Blanche DJ Riton, with whom he’d played at Bestival.
Shocked contemporaries and fans have flooded social networking sites with their memories, messages and tributes to the 34-year-old, some of which are below.
