Over the years Jacek Czachor has come to be known as the Dakar’s ‘Mr Consistency’. Ever since making his Dakar debut in 2000 he has managed to cross the finish line in all his 11 editions of the desert classic.

This remarkable feat has been thanks to the Pole’s skill to read the unique conditions of the Dakar and his ability to always be thinking a few steps ahead. Jacek’s riding is rarely spectacular, but he has clocked up two top-10 finishes over the years and seen hundreds of competitors come and go.

There are few certainties in the Dakar, but watching Jacek cross the finish line has become a sure thing over the last decade. Jacek’s place in Team Orlen alongside his countrymen Marek Dabrowski and Kuba Przygonski give the unit an enviable mix of youth and experience.

Fast Fact: Since the 2002 race, running from Arras in France to Dakar in Senegal, Jakub has never finished lower than 20th position or higher than 10th place. In a race that regularly attracts close to 200 bikers, this is no mean feat.

Best quote: “Despite this being my 12th Dakar I still get emotional thinking about the start, although it’s nothing like how I was feeling before my first Dakar. The Dakar is the most important race of the year for the entire team and myself. This year I rode in the World Championship with Marek and Jakub, we also tested together in Portugal and Morocco. My goal is to beat my personal best of 10th place and, of course, to once again cross that finish line. We have three riders in our team who all have the ability to be leaders. Jakub is the youngest and no doubt the fastest, so along with Marek we will do whatever it takes to ensure he is successful.” Jacek Czachor
