Sebastian Vettel (pictured here with Britain's Best Looking Bloke) notched up his eighth win of 2011 at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza after crossing the finish line in a time of 1:20.46.172. “It was an emotional win today,” said Seb of Red Bull Racing’s first-ever Italian win. “This circuit has been tough for us for the last two years and so… to come back this year and win! The car was amazing in qualifying yesterday and in the race today it was even better.” It wasn’t all celebration for RBR, however, after Mark Webber's afternoon finished on lap 6 following a collision with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.

Red Bull’s seven-time world champion Sebastien Loeb had a bit of a mare this weekend as he took an extremely rare tumble and lost the top spot in Australia. The same thing also happened to team-mate Sebastien Ogier a few stages later, leaving the way open for Mikko Hirvonen to win the Aussie rally for a third time. Mikko has now narrowed Loeb's lead in the World Rally Championship to 15 points.

Red Bull District Ride
75,000 spectators witnessed 24 of the world's greatest freeriders pushing the envelope as far as it can go at Red Bull District Ride in Nuremburg. In the end, it was the UK's Sam Pilgrim who was crowned champ after delivering an incredible run. The British rider won first place at the final event of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour ahead of second-placed Swede Martin Soderstrom and third-placed Canadian Brandon Semenuk after convincing the jury with his consistently high level of tricks throughout the overall 6 Districts. “The first time I saw the course, I couldn’t wait to just go crazy on it," said Pilgrim. "Of course, I’m really stoked I won but more importantly I had a lot of fun. Nuremberg is just a really cool city!”

MX World Championship 2011 Final Round
It has been a quiet weekend in the world of MX following an announcement from KTM that the mother of 2011 MX1 World Champion Antonio Cairoli has died after an extended illness. Antonio’s mother Paola had been seriously ill for some time and she passed away at 2pm at home in Patti, Sicily, surrounded by family. Out of respect, and in view of the bereavement of the Cairoli family, KTM has decided that Antonio would not take part in the final round for the MX1 World Championship in Fermo, Italy, over the weekend.

Slovenian kayak star Peter Kauzer won gold at the ICF 2011 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bratislava as he took the world crown for the second time in his career and booked his berth at the 2012 Olympics in London. According to Kauzer the atmosphere along the course was amazing. After placing second in the half-final run, he watched the other competitors in the finals. Once he saw they couldn't improve their times, he opted for a calmer, focussed run: “At the end, it is not important whether you have won by five seconds or 100. What is important is that you have won.
“With this win I ensured myself a spot at the 2012 Olympics in London. I can’t find the words to tell you how happy I am!”
