The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies are back in action just days after two thrilling races in Jerez. Reigning champion Lorenzo Baldassarri is heading the points table going into Race Three on Saturday, but the 15 year Italian didn’t have it all his own way.

He struggled in testing at Estoril earlier this year and had to settle for 11th place on the grid fore last Saturday’s opening race. He came through to finish eighth in that event, but then fought back to win Sunday’s race to go top of the table.

Ivo Lopes will definitely be one to watch. The Portuguese teenager has looked blisteringly quick this year and was beaten by just five thousandths of a second over the line last Sunday. With his home fans behind him, he could be unstoppable.

Lopes is currently third in the points. Sandwiched between him and Baldassarri is 14 year old Rookies Cup newcomer Diego Perez. The Spaniard rode to a superb double third at his home Grand Prix and heads to Portugal brimming with confidence.

Outside the top three, Florian Alt looks a contender: the German celebrated his 16th birthday on Monday, having won Race 1 at Jerez and missing out on a possible double thanks to an electrical fault.

He missed last year's races in Portugal but he was second fastest in testing this winter, so clearly knows the track. Fastest at that pre season event was Kyle Ryde, the reigning British 125cc Champion. The 14 year old Briton qualified third in Jerez and was right at the front in both races, taking fourth place in Race 1 before being knocked off in Race 2.

You can watch both races live on Race One on Saturday starts at 17.30 CET and Race 2 gets under way at 17.00 on Sunday.
