World champion Sebastian Vettel's final race of the season got the very best of starts when he took once again took pole position at Interlagos. Having broken Nigel Mansell's record for the most P1 starts in a single season, we can safely say that Seb is ending things on a high...
Though the qualifying ended a few hours ago, I'm still struggling to find the right words to describe my exact feelings at the moment. All I know is that getting this last pole position means a lot to everyone of our team and it feels just incredible.
Each qualifying is something special for me and the guys back in the pit. You just really feel how the tension slowly builds up until the moment that decides everything – the one lap that decides everything. Before this moment, I just try to check everything, make sure the tyres are running well and everything's fine with the car. As soon as I hit the pedal and start the lap, it's only me, the track and the car. You don't have time to become angry or happy within these few moments, because everything goes by so fast.
But, no matter what happens, I always know if it was a good or a bad lap as soon as I cross the finishing line. Hearing the guys celebrate on the team radio makes all the tension go away and, suddenly, there's only joy and satisfaction.
Obviously we're still fighting with the weather, but I guess we need to wait and see how this turns out. Dry weather would mean a more constant race, while rain would allow us to try one or few things that you couldn't do under normal circumstances. Sure, the risk of making a mistake would increase but at least it would be the same for every other driver on the track.
All in all, I'm just incredibly happy on how well we've done this year. We're always concentrated and motivated, but at the same time trying to avoid any kind of stress and pressure.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to my team, you guys did an amazing job and I'm incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
Talk to you tomorrow!
