Martin Tomczyk moved into second place in the DTM drivers' standings with a pillar-to-post victory at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on Sunday.
In the third race of the DTM season in front of a capacity crowd of 48,000 at the newly re-opened Ring in Spielberg, the German Audi driver finished ahead of Ralf Schumacher in second and Britain's Oliver Jarvis in third.
The 29-year-old's win was his fifth in DTM and the first for the Audi Sport Team Phoenix – a statistic that delighted Tomczyk, who started the race from pole position.
"This success is a beautiful one," Tomczyk said. "I am particularly happy that I have been able to score the maiden DTM race win for the Audi Sport Team Phoenix.
"Today, the good start and the first fast laps were the basis for my victory. Today, we have deserved a party."
There's unlikely to be much in the way of partying in the Mattias Ekström household after this this race though, as the Swede endured a nightmare return to the Red Bull Ring after crashing out in the pit lane in qualifying before retiring for safety reasons after the first pit stop of the race proper.
