After conquering China last year, Canadians Seb Toutant and Mark McMorris were smothered by a Norwegian avalanche in the shape of Ulrik Badertscher, Torstein Horgmo and Staale Sandbech at Air & Style in Beijing.
And to add to the Scandinavian feel of the 6Star TTR event, Sweden's Nils Arvidsson completed the line-up of the four-man final and just missed out on a podium spot.
Red Bull's Toutant was the pre-tournament favourite for the title, but he was defeated in the last eight by eventual champion, Badertscher, whose 97 points were achieved by pulling off what appeared to be a double backside rodeo 1260.
Fellow Canadian Red Bull athlete, McMorris, went out in the first round of the competition to eventual third placed boarder, Sandbech, whose backside 1440 scored him 84 points.
In the final, Badertscher pulled off the double backside rodeo 1260 once more to claim 91.67 points, which was enough to beat Horgmo's Cab double cork into seond place (88.33 points), with Sandbech's backside 1440 being awarded 81.67 points.
