Last season was somehow a constant up and down for Eigo. A few times he was very close to grab a podium spot before bad luck came back in Madrid and he was forced to stay off the bike for the competition. Right after Madrid Sato came back with a spectacular 3rd Place in Poznan (Poland), hoping for even more going into the tour final in Sydney, but bad luck caught him again. A few weeks after the tour Sato took the time to recap the last season and gave an outlook for his 2012 plans.
fmxworld.com: Hi Eigo, it´s quite a while that we had some news from you. So what are you up to right now?
Well I am off the BIKE & still walking on crutches. I will have my 2nd oparation on 25th OCT to take out 1 screw from my ankle.
Once the screw is out I finally can start with the rehab. I can't wait!
fmxworld.com: You had a bad crash in Sydney during the quali for the Red Bull X-Figthers Tour final. Explain us what happened, as not many infos have been communicated during the event weekend.
I just tried GO BIG! and just went TOO BIG! haha. When all went a bit downhill, I was trying an "UNDERFLIP SEAT GRAB INDY" which I had done 5-6 times before this attempt.
I felt safe and I wanted to do it BIG for a good quali result!
Unfortunately I missed the grab & crashed! I think it was my fault and had nothing to do with the wind everyone had to face during the quali.
