And so we reach the final race of the 2010 DTM season. With a population of more than 20 million people, Shanghai is often described as "The Paris of the East." There is no shortage of luxury 5-star hotels in Shanghai including all mayor hotel chains. First class brands of all branches from fashion to design are present as well. Finally, Shanghai also ranks first in the world's busiest cargo ports.

Built on what used to be a farmland only 20 years ago, this circuit is inside the bustling city streets of Shanghai's Pudong – modernised with both historic buildings and modern skyscrapers. Only 5 minutes away from the Oriental Pearl Tower, 15 minutes away from the World Expo Center (hosting 240 countries this year), the circuit itself will also touch three major landmarks including the Pudong Expo Center, Science and Technology Museum, and the French designed Oriental Art Center designed by Paul Andreu. Lined with greenery and trees on both sides, the racetrack takes nine distinct corners that vary in sharp and soft turns – its design ensures both safety and challenge for its drivers fighting for the championship. Following the first Shanghai DTM exhibition race in 2004, this year will be the start of a tradition of having an annual DTM race. The choice of Shanghai for the championship race marks the beginning of a new era of DTM and its fans, with the CCTV broadcast of the Shanghai race reaching a nationwide population of 1.3 billion people, with an additional 85.4 million households worldwide.
