A number of new additions to the Gran Turismo franchise will make their debut this time out, including;

* A detailed damage model, with variations of damage depending on whether the vehicle is "Standard" or "Premium".
* Weather effects will be included, including snow and rain. However, only certain circuits in the game will feature weather effects.
* Windscreen wipers can be seen working on Premium cars during weather effects.
* An optional Stereoscopic-3D resolution will be available.
* Go-Karting will also make its first ever appearance.
* New visual effects including dynamic skid marks, dust and grass being kicked up and affected by other elements and also the ability for drivers to flash their headlights.
* A course editor is a totally new addition to the franchise and allows the player to create new circuits by using many tools that randomly generate parts of track including the amount of corners, the time of day, the amount of sectors and more.

Gran Turismo 5, commonly abbreviated as GT5, is the fifth edition of the Gran Turismo racing simulator series. Developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, it is due for release on PlayStation 3 on November 24, 2010. It expands on the Prologue version and will be the first of the main series to feature on the PS3. For the first time in the main series, an online mode will be available in the game, with 16 player capability. A damage model has been confirmed with variations of damage depending on whether the vehicle is "standard" or "premium". Over 1,000 cars will feature, with 26 different locations, 71 tracks and the welcome return of night racing.

The Red Bull X2010, a fictional vehicle created for the game has been turned into a reality and will be in attendance at the official launch party in Madrid. The car, which has adopted the name RBX2010, was designed by Adrian Newey, Red Bull’s Racing CTO. The car was designed without any restrictions of race regulations, enabling Newey to have a blank canvas and put all his technical energy into a design that pushes the boundaries of motorsport, with a shape and form that makes history. The 'what if' fantasy car has already been put to the test by Sebastian Vettel who took a virtual seat in the X2010 prototype and raced around Suzuka in Japan. Although this beast is still just a prototype, it shouldn't hinder you from appreciating it for all its fiery glory. Who knows, given enough demand, it just might go the way of Polyphony Digital's Citroen GT and head out for production.
