- About
- Built in 1962 by Honda as a testing facility, Suzuka hosted its first F1 race in 1987 and has been the scene of several decisive world championship races since: most memorably the ferocious battles between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost between 1988-90. The circuit also boasts a funfair, a karaoke bar and arguably the best spectators in F1. It also features some of the world's most challenging corners, like the high-speed 130R or the famous Spoon Curve. The current lap record is 1:31.540 and was set by Kimi Raikkonen when he won from 17th on the grid in 2005.
