The Grand Prix of Brazil doesn’t have that long a history in the FIM World Motocross Championship. Starting in 1985 at the Belo Horizonte circuit, Pekka Vehkonen won the first ever 125cc Grand Prix and soon after his World 125cc Championship, the Finnish star won on a Cagiva machine. Fortunately after nearly a decade of absence the FIM World Motocross Championship returned to Brazil in 2009 and it was Clement Desalle in the MX1 class and Marvin Musquin in the MX2 class that took the overall wins at the Canelinha circuit in Santa Catarina. Whatever happens at this year’s event, set for the Indaiatuba circuit near Sao Paulo, you can count on both series leaders Cairoli trying to join the likes of Everts, Tortelli, Chiodi, Vehkonen and Musquin.
