One of the biggest and most prestigious motorsport events in Europe takes place in Loket town, Czech Republic over the weekend of 4th-5th August. With races from categories of both MX1 and MX2 taking take place, fans can enjoy coverage of the best pro riders in the world on giant screens, so they're always right up close to the action.

As an added bonus this year, supporters can also look forward to two-stroke bikes from the series of UEM EMX 125 races.

The course is constantly improving every year to ensure it retains its status as a firm favourite with both fans and riders alike. 2010 saw an extension to the riders' entry tunnel. In addition comprehensive repairs have carried out on the fences, banisters and barriers around the motocross premises, keeping rider and spectator safety as paramount. An automated course watering system was also installed.

The picturesque, Gothic town centre is surrounded on three sides by the Ohře River. It is the shape of the river which gives it its name, with Loket literally translating as 'elbow' in English. The town centre features the 12th century Loket Castle, and as such is a national monument free from modern developments. Step back in time and sample it in all its undisturbed, Gothic glory. In addition to the Motocross Grand Prix, Loket also hosts an annual opera festival in its open air amphitheatre with the castle as a backdrop. Film trivia lovers will be interested to know that the town was used to portray Montenegro in the 2006 James Bond film, Casino Royale.
