Round ten of the FIM World Motocross Championship will rank with many as the best weekend of the season. The Grand Prix of Latvia boasts the perfect mix of racing, city tripping and natural beauty, meaning that this stop is about more than just the Motocross. The Kegums circuit is situated roughly 40 minutes from the capital city of Riga.

In the middle of 2010, Youthstream and the Baltic Cup Foundation renewed their agreement for the organisation of the Latvian Grand Prix until 2013. In addition, In 2014 the country is set to host the prestigious FIM Motocross of Nations. Motocross in Latvia has improved in an outstanding way in the last few years thanks to the effort of many parties, but especially thanks to the support of the fans, the will of the organisers and the crucial support from the Latvian Government and the Latvian Motorcyclists Federation. Hopefully this agreement will see motocross in Latvia go from strength-to-strength, this is going to be the biggest event Latvia and the Baltic countries have ever seen

The track is comfortably the best of in the country and as such is well renowned. It has a fairly flat topography and is set in a pine forest, with a sand track more typically seen in Finland or Sweden. It uses natural terrain as well as man-made jumps to create a 1.6km lap. The minimum width of the track is 7M, meaning overtaking is a real possibly most of the way, so riders are never safe. Facilities at the track are reasonable, with a large space for parking and a huge choice of area to spectate.
