Glen Helen Raceway will once again play host to the Motocross World Championship series, as the historic U.S. Grand Prix (USGP) returns to Southern California for the second year in a row, after an absence of some 18 years. Glen Helen began its journey to fame back in 1985 when it was an immediate hit with racers and fans. In the years since it has added more tracks and poured thousands of dollars into the facility, making it one of the most revered by motocross fans around the world. The return of this iconic Grand Prix will serve as a fitting tribute to the 30th anniversary of an American first winning the USGP. In fact the older diehard fans may still recall when hometown hero Marty Moates pioneered his way to victory over the seeminly invincible European MX racers. Raceway owner Bud Feldkamp remembers that glorious day well and said, "It has been a life-long dream of mine and the staff to have this extraordinary World Championship event at Glen Helen." Fans of the 'Race Of The Century', as the event is being billed, will be even more delighted to learn that unlike Supercross or other AMA outdoor national MX races, they will be able to stay in the USGP Paddock all day long to watch their favourite riders before and after their races.
