- About
- Infineon Raceway marks 43 years of historic racing action in the Sonoma Valley during the 2011 season. First opened in 1968 under the name of Sears Point Raceway, it was constructed on 720 acres of property that was a working dairy farm until the early 1900s. The facility hosted its first official event in December 1988 and has since then grown and expanded into one of the premier motor sports venues in the country, hosting 340 days of racing activity each year. The twists of the 12-turn road course and the lightning-quick quarter-mile drag strip have hosted all of the biggest names and some of the most historic moments in racing history. The Infineon Raceway road course features more than 160 feet of elevation change from its highest to lowest points. The highest point at Turn 3a reaches 174 feet, while the lowest point at Turn 10 is just 14 feet. The reason for the unusual colour selection of blue and yellow painted berms is in honor of track President Steve Page's attendance at nearby University of California, Berkeley. The Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup event is one of only very few on the Sprint Cup schedule measured in kilometers. This event is 110 laps, which equates to 218.9m or 352.21 km.
