Vitilla is a form of street baseball (using a plastic bottletop in place of a ball) that is hugely popular in the Dominican Republic. A number of vitilla players have been scouted by Major League Baseball teams in the USA, and a lucrative contract in American baseball is the dream of every young vitilla player in the Caribbean island country. MLB player D'Angelo Jimenez will start off proceedings in the Clasico, as the area around the 'El Faro a Colon' monument bears witness to 14 teams playing thrilling games of vitilla for an eventual prize of $1,400.
