Few events anywhere in the world combine any motorsport discipline with stubborn animals, but Red Bull have made it possible as Red Bull Donkey Cross 2011 hits the slopes of Makrinitsa in Pilio, Greece. This totally unique event, held in an area where to this day stone houses are still built only with the help of donkeys, tackles hard, wet, slippery terrain made up of muddy stone track and tight curves. The 2011 Donkey Cross continues in the footsteps of the first two legendary events in Sifnos Island, Greece. And the showcase provides even greater difficulty in a picturesque mountain environment. Providing a never-before-seen spectatcle for the local public, 30 high-profile national and international riders will combine with 30 powerful bikes and 30 bewildered donkeys. All the motocross skill in the universe is pretty much useless when you hop onto one of the most uncontrollable animals, but it may help to highlight the plight of this traditional animal whose very existence is under threat of extinction.
