Rally New Zealand is the seventh round of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship and the fourth round of the 2012 New Zealand Rally Championship. The high profile event – New Zealand’s premier rally sport event – is based in Auckland with the rally route taking competitors to Waikato, Whangarei and Northland. New Zealand is the oldest WRC event in the Southern Hemisphere with over 40 years of service. Renowned for both fast, gravel roads and the intricate beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Auckland, the largest and most populous urban area in the country has a population of around 1.4 million and continues to rise at a rate above the rest of the country. The reintroduction of the Northland region means the return of several classic high-speed stages which have been missed in recent years. There are also a few more familiar stages plus two brand-new Super Specials, including one all-asphalt test.
