At one time a real contender for the overall DTM crown in ’09, Mattias had to settle for fifth in the DTM last year. At one time, it looked good for the Swede after five consecutive podium places, but then a fifth and sixth were followed by a non-points-finish in ninth and then retirement from the season-ending race in Hockenheim. This was disappointing for the double champion, who won the DTM top prize in 2004 and 2007, and has been a loyal Audi driver since 2001. Perhaps he can keep the ‘title every three years’ sequence going in 2010…
