Quote: “There are so many great days in my life - I don’t know which is best.”
He broke three thoracic vertebrae and finally won the regional cup the same year. He broke an ankle bone and became the parallel slalom world champion six weeks later. It seems that injuries can’t stop the native Lower Austrian, who now lives in the East Tyrol, from winning sensational victories. In 2008, then only 22 years old, Benjamin won the overall World Cup title. Even the previous season, despite being plagued with injuries, he became world champion and won three World Cup races. Winning the first race of the season in Landgraaf (Netherlands), he is also one of the best hopes for Olympic gold.
Asked about his athletic goals, the answer comes fast and clear: “World champion, Olympic champion, once, twice, three-times, …” He already had a good start. The rest will follow soon.
