Gloucester-born Danny Kent started racing competitively when he was just eight years old, and the British youngster was quick to serve notice of his talent, winning the 2001 Welsh Minimoto Championship.

Rapid progression led to him making his way up through the ranks on Metrakit machinery of increasing power, before he started riding 125s and was then entered into the Aprilia Superteen Challenge. Finishing runner-up in the competition in 2007, Kent's ability secured him a place in the prestigious Red Bull MotoGP Academy, the series aimed at discovering and developing the next generation of Grand Prix winners.

In 2009 Kent competed in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, racing on World Championship circuits against the best young talent from around the world, and finished a fantastic fourth overall which resulted in him being invited to stay on for the 2010 selection.

An epic battle for the title ensued and Kent eventually ended the year runner-up in the series after taking it to the final round. His displays earned him a seat with Lambretta for the final five rounds of the 125cc World Championship, giving the youngster the opportunity to familiarise himself with non-European tracks in preparation for the following season.

Signed up by the hugely successful Ajo team for 2011, Kent got off to a fantastic start, finishing fourth at Jerez in only the second round of the campaign. Regularly in and around the top 10, Kent ended the season 11th overall as he consolidated an excellent rookie year.

Having confirmed the excitement surrounding his ability, Kent remains with the Ajo set-up for the 2012 season and the introduction of the new Moto3 category, and will ride factory KTM machinery.
