About Darren
With a wide range of podium finishes and magazine covers under his belt, Darren is showing no sign of slowing down. In 2009, he landed the opening part of the NWD film ‘Dust and Bones’ on top of placing very well in the major international Slopestyle contest. A hard working athlete who puts lots of effort into building unique bike features, Darren’s dedication to the sport is unmatched in the industry.
Hailing from Parksville, BC, Darren has been widely regarded as one of the best freeride mountain bikers in the world ever since he exploded onto the scene with a third-placed finish at the 2002 Red Bull Rampage.
He won Rider of the Year 2005 and 2006, finished second at Crankworx Slopestyle in Whistler-Blackcomb in 2005 and grabbed the podium at the first round of the Nissan Qashqai in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK, in 2007. In 2009, he successfully defended his Adidas Slopestyle championship in Austria.
Darren also started the Bearclaw Invitational to promote the sport. At the end of the summer every year, the world’s best riders descend on Darren’s own Mount Washington Alpine Resort to throw down all manner of tricks on a course designed and built by him.
