About Tanner

A usual suspect atop superpipe and slopestyle podiums, Tanner Hall is one of the most decorated—and best known—freeskiers in the world today. A native of Kalispell, Mont., Tanner started skiing at age 3 and nailed his first 360 at 7. After turning pro at 15, he defined himself as one of the chief ambassadors of skiing’s new-school freestyle movement with his command of switch tricks, dizzying spins, and XXL amplitude—always done with an uncanny knack for stomping his landings on two feet. Tanner’s tour-de-force on the contest circuit began in 2001 when he picked up his first X Games gold medal (nine more X Games medals would follow). A high-school dropout turned entrepreneur, Tanner now runs his own ski company, Armada, and produces his own films, including The Massive, Believe, and Show & Prove. In recent years, Tanner has expanded his skiing repertoire to include big mountain and backcountry, which he finds plenty of living in Kamas, Utah, just outside Park City.
