Lord of the board since the age of seven, Slovenian rider Marko Grilc has been a member of the Burton team (the world's biggest snowboard producer) for the past 10 years. He won his first Junior World Championship back in 1998 and after notching up a few more titles at that level, he turned pro.

After a break he returned to form in 2008/2009 riding for the Slovene team and finished 2nd overall in the FIS Big Air contest. His career high so far is winning the TTR 6Star Billabong Air & Style title in Innsbruck in 2009 after he stole the show with a clean switch backside ten late-cork in the finals. Still fresh from the win, he topped off his year by airing over pro snowmobiler Ross Mercer for a film project called Red Bull Double Air.

Alongside competing and winning contests from Quebec to Russia, Marko has carved a film career appearing in 91 Words for Snow, Draw the Line, Catch the Vapors, Thanks in Advance, and The B. He's also chanelled his creativity into designing boards for Burton and working on clothing designs in his spare time.

At the London Freeze contest – the first in the 2011 season – Grilc showed he was intent on becoming the world's best freestyle snowboarder by taking first place
