ON THE PIPE
 

Mike Mason is one of those guys who simply can’t picture his life without dirtbikes. As an 11-year-old kid his dad, who rides himself, got him a bike, and Mike hasn’t been able to stop riding since.

The 28-year-old from Nevada is a machine in MX and slowly developing a reputation as a freeriding legend. After a couple of years on the Arenacross circuit, Mason decided to quit racing in 2004 and focus on his FMX and freeriding skills with his buddy Dustin Miller, who already had his own large FMX park complete with foampit. Visiting the nearby FMX park of his friend for practice was much more chilled out than travelling long distances to the next MX/SX track, and Mike’s skills improved so fast that he finished third overall on the AST Dew Tour as well as winning a bronze medal at the 2005 X-Games.

Last year, Mason finished 14th in the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, rounding off the season with a strong 8th place in London’s Battersea Power Station. This time around the American will be looking to improve on his results from 2010 and keep the crowd rocking with his breathtaking Rock Solids.
