About Péter
Peter Besenyei is the Godfather of the Red Bull Air Race. A distinguished aerobatic champion, Peter was instrumental in the creation of the World Championship.
He was the test pilot responsible for proving the Air Gate technology and also an integral member of the group that developed the race format. Before the beginning of the 2009 season, Peter had accumulated eight Red Bull Air Race victories, spread across four continents.
Prior to inventing the Red Bull Air Race, Peter’s aerobatics honours included a string of National, European and World titles in both compulsory and freestyle programs. He is also a national hero and has been recognised as such with the Gold Medal of the President of the Republic of Hungary.
