Illustrator, graphic designer and curator Nina Farrell will exhibit work by 44 artists from a variety of disciplines for the first public showing of the The Wing Assignment project running 20th - 24th September.
Each featured artist has been given a pair of reclaimed sustainably sourced birds wings as the stimulus for their piece. The project seeks to explore the artists creative process rather than the focus on the end product. Nina explains: “The purpose of The Assignment it to provide a platform for creative’s to express themselves freely in response to a single evocative object, concept or theme. It is really about the process, to provide inspiration and motivate self-expression without compromise."
Helping select submissions is a panel of high profile creative’s including colourful abstract artist Dan Baldwin who exhibited in the studios last year as part of Lock Up Part II. The selection board will be examining pieces by architects, sculptors, make-up artists, musicians and more in time for the final exhibition at the end of September.
Prints of the artwork will be available to buy with 10% of all proceeds going towards spinal cord injury charity Wings For Life. The charity funds cutting edge research projects and clinical trials across the globe aimed at accelerating progress towards a cure for spinal cord injury
This exhibition is free and welcome to all
