Following on from the success of last years event, the Red Bull Backyard Digger team, including UK BMX athlete Kye Forte, decided pick up their shovels once more and head down to a new site in the UK. The aim was to get the local community together to help build a brand new feature at a pre-existing BMX trail somewhere in the country.

Applications came in thick and fast, but it was the Hills and Mountains trails spot in Burgh Heath, Surrey that caught the attention of the team and won the opportunity for a trail makeover from Kye and his team. The local riders and kids got involved helping shape, sculpt and build the jumps, they even added a berm at the end for good measure.

The new feature looks amazing and was finished in good time for the Red Bull Backyrd Digger jam on Saturday 28th May.Over 60 riders came down to try out the new line, taking part in an amateur competition after a few hours practise on the new run.

Feedback was great, and although the run was pretty challenging, all the riders got stuck in.

Kye and the other judges watched the riders in action and managed to whittle the competitors down to the best 10. These then competed for for the Backyard Digger championship title. It was local boy Freddie who took the top spot, and as a reward he received a host of goodies including a bike frame, and shovel shaped trophy.

Well done to Freddie and all the riders who took part.
