If your bio states that your place of birth is the Isle of Man, then there is little else you can do but take to motorcycles. For David Knight, however, the traditional road racing route didn’t appeal and from a young age it was Enduro that fired his imagination. So much so that six British Enduro Championship wins have been followed by two world titles, an indoor world crown and most recently back-to-back GNCC Championship wins in 2007/08 in the US.
A desire to have a crack at a third WEC crown saw ‘Knighter’ return to Europe in 2009, partnering up with BMW for the series. However, the relationship didn’t work out and David parted company with BMW. The split signalled a return to the US and more importantly to winning ways, with immediate victory at the super tough Snowshoe GNCC event in West Virginia.
In 2010, Knighter returned to KTM for the World Enduro Championship in the E3 class, where he hopes to win his third world championship for the Austrian manufacturer. David's prospects look good after wins in the opening two events saw him lead the championship.
