BMX veteran Kevin Robinson came out swinging at the final stop of the 2009 Dew Tour in Orlando, Florida, today, blasting through the ranks to land on the podium in the Vert Final. Robinson, who won the BMX Big Air gold medal at X Games back in August, spun a wild alley-oop 540 and an absolutely massive opposite no-handed flair over the channel to finish just behind Jamie Bestwick and Chad Kagy.
Saturday’s Dew Tour action includes the Skate Park Final, with Ryan Decenzo sitting in second place in the overall Tour standings, just 24 points behind Tour leader Chris Cole. Joining Ryan in the Final will be his Red Bull teammate Milton Martinez, who’s four-for-four in his debut year on the Tour, making the cut into every Skate Park Final.
Sandro Dias made an impressive showing in today’s Skate Vert Prelim, edging out Bob Burnquist to grab the top qualifying spot for Sunday’s Final showdown. Sandro is currently sitting fourth overall, but only 28 points separate the top four skaters, so it’s anybody’s game.
Sunday also holds the hotly-contested BMX Park Final; Daniel Dhers, the defending three-time Tour champion, is in a heavy battle with legend Dave Mirra and new jack Garrett Reynolds for the overall bragging rights for 2009, and with Mirra handing down a $5,000 challenge to Dhers to ride without brakes at the contest, it’s definitely going to be a wild show.
