Ryan Sheckler cooling off at X Games 17 Chris Serafino/Red Bull Media House North America, Inc.

It was 16-year-old Nyjah Huston who did not back down today at X Games Street Finals. With back-to-back-to-back dominating wins at Street League, no one was sure how he would fare on the Los Angeles concrete.

Nyjah beat out defending champ, Red Bull’s own Ryan Sheckler, and grabbed the gold. Luan Oliveira scored 91, which garnered him a Silver Medal, and Ryan Sheckler took the bronze with a score of 89.

Sheckler -- the oldest skater on the podium today -- won his first X Games Gold when he was 13 years old. To say he’s a seasoned veteran at the age of 21 seems strange and yet it’s true. His dedication not only to skateboarding but also to the competitions speaks volumes.

Huston won Silver Medals in both 2009 and 2010. Now he’s got a shiny gold medal to add to his collection. What a difference a year makes.
