Early this month, DC Shoes announced the addition of ten new riders to their BMX Pro team. Amid DC’s already supreme list of pros -- Dave Mirra, Chris Doyle, Allan Cooke, Corey Bohan and Edwin De La Rosa -- they recruited a hefty list of all-around riders to join them in taking on the rest of 2011.
Among the new blood is Jeremiah Smith, Brett Banasiewicz, Mike “Hucker” Clark, Kelly Bolton, Alfredo Mancuso, Ryan “Biz” Jordan, Brad Simms, Rob Wise and Anthony Napolitan.
“I'm super excited to finally be a part of the DC pro team,” said Napolitan. “I've kind of been sandwiched in an awkward spot between the flow and pro teams for the past two years. Now that the ball is rolling with the BMX program a lot of other guys also got the opportunity to move up as well, so it's going to be a great year!”
DC’s next step was to round up the entire crew and hit the road this month to promote their new team with the Roughin’ It Tour 2 trip.
Roughin’ It Tour 2
The Roughin’ It Tour 2 started in Portland on May 14 and will run until June 4. The team will be visiting various retail and bike shops in and around all the major cities on the West coast including Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, along with stops in Las Vegas and Denver.
“The DC team trip this year is going to be one of a kind,” said Bohan. “We got a few new riders who have joined the team, so it’s going to be great to kick it with my boys and all the new guys too. There’s going to be some great riding and good laughs, that’s for sure!”
On selected dates, the team will be putting on riding demos for the general public, holding meet-and-greets and conducting autograph-signing sessions for all who attend. When not doing demos, they’ll be riding random street spots, skateparks and backyard ramps collecting video footage and shooting photos for the DC website and articles in a couple of BMX magazines.
How You Can Participate
During the tour, DC shoes will be posting regular updates on their Facebook and Twitter pages. They will be holding random scavenger hunts thoughout the trip and giving away miscellaneous merch, DC loot and other sponsors’ loot.
The DC BMX blog will have daily recaps of the trip, including photos and videos from the road. On top of that, you can follow along over on the Ride BMX website, where they’ll be hosting exclusive daily coverage of the tour as well.
After the tour, DC will produce various videos to be posted on the BMX section of their website. These videos will include clips from the demos, behind-the-scenes footage from the road, challenges and funny outtakes.
They will also be publishing various photo galleries from the trip, ranging from lifestyle to action shots. If that isn’t enough coverage for you, the tour will also be featured in 10-page articles in both Ride UK and BMX Plus! magazines. However you decide to follow along, this will be one tour not to miss! Here’s a complete list of all the shops and cities the tour will be hitting.
