The ancient Romans indulged in bread and circus here long ago. Now, the 2006 Red Bull City Rumble gets the old stones of old cities shaking once more - with a mission that tests the limits of even the country’s very best skaters.
The old Italian cities of Lecce, Ventimiglia and Triest virtually breathe living history. And on 25 June, Italy’s best skaters intend to write their own chapter. Because in these cities, one team of five members each will open the Red Bull City Rumble 2006: a five-day freestyle mission that aims to turn all of Italy into a giant skating park.40 obstacles await participants before the event’s conclusion at "The Spot Skatepark" at Ostia Lido. In the cities on the way, each team has to show certain tricks, find the best skating spots and other secret locations, and also take on more unusual challenges. Last year, one such challenge was to kiss three young female strangers…
A Rumble Manager, a photographer and a cameraman will be present at each of the participating teams’ performances. The videos from these will be shown at the grand finale on 29 June and will help determine which team wins the Red Bull City Rumble 2006. But the final decision as to the event’s conclusion will only be made after the last trick contest at Ostia Lido.
The teams will be selected between 30 May and 1 June in an online auction at www.redbullcityrumble.com and joined by three wild card starters, who will be determined on 10 and 11 June at the "Addicted to Skateboarding Termite Series" contest in Garbagnate.
