In Zurich, Chris Pfeiffer became the first Indoor Streetbike Freestyle World Champion. In interview, he talks about the rapid development of his sport, which is practiced with normal street motorbikes – and about his upcoming plans.

Congratulations on winning the title! What makes tricking with normal motorbikes more difficult and gives it its particular kick?

With these heavy machines, that are actually completely over-motorised for us, doing tricks and keeping your balance in borderline positions is thrilling both for the rider and the spectators. And apart from that, the development of the sport is just crazy: today we are doing tricks with these heavy bikes that up until recently were considered impossible.

A year or two ago such a World Championship would have been impossible due to lack of eligible competitors. What brought about the boom?

A few years ago there were only show riders, today there’s a professional scene of competitive athletes who have trained intensively. We exchange ideas, we’re like a big family – apart from a very few exceptions, but then, there are idiots everywhere.

After our interview you have to go to a shooting. What’s that all about?

For shots for my second DVD, which is due out in six months. The Brazilian AC Farias and the Swede Matti Tepsa, who came in second and fifth in the World Championship, are also taking part.

Can you reveal your next big project to us?

The ski outing with my wife and two young daughters at the weekend – that will definitely be a big project! Apart from that I’m booked for a different show every week: after Dublin I’m off to the USA, then I’m taking part in the Snow Speedhill, an enduro race on a ski piste. During the F-1-GP in Kuala Lumpur I’m also doing a show. And I need to prepare for the Red Bull Harescramble, which I hope to win for the fifth time.

As the World Champion in stunt riding and Stunt Wars winner, you probably also have a few stunt double movie offers lying around on your desk.

Crashing against some car for 3 euro 50 doesn’t interest me. I leave things like that to professional stuntmen. They’re great at rolling off, I’d rather concentrate on being a great motorbike rider.
