The best action and sport photographers in the world are exhibiting their 50 most emotional, dramatic and inventive pictures from June 7 to 24 in Huntington Beach – the second stop on the Red Bull Illume Tour through the USA and Canada.

Three canoeists standing at the edge of a rocky abyss; a geometrical, black-and-white composition of urban architecture featuring a skater; a climber’s arm reaching for the last ten centimeters of wall: It’s the eye for the best angle, the feeling for the perfect second that makes a true photo artist. The masterpieces, which can be created within a second, are shown at the Red Bull Illume as part of a unique open-air exhibition: From June 7 to 24 the most successful sport and action photos are on display in Huntington Beach, California.

The biggest sport and action photo competition ever

The 50 photos are exhibited directly along the beach, and are the winners of an international photo competition, whose scope has never before been surpassed: Photo artists from 90 countries submitted around 7200 works to Red Bull Illume. The best were chosen by an international jury consisting of photo journalists and art directors of renowned sport and lifestyle magazines at the beginning of the year. As well as the winning photos from 10 categories, a further 40 masterpieces are displayed.

Masterpieces on tour

Huntington Beach is the second stop of the moving exhibition, which celebrated its premier in Aspen/Colorado. From Huntington Beach the tour route continues to Oregon, where all those interested can visit the outdoor gallery in Portland from August 2 to 12 for free. Following its tour of North America, the Red Bull Illume will also be travelling to Europe and Asia in 2008.
