Who has had enough of theory has the possibility to experience speedriding at close range from the 21st to the 25th of January 2008. The worldwide first Speedriding Big Mountain contest will take place in St. Anton am Arlberg. At the Red Bull Speedride the worldwide best athletes get to the start and have the possibility to prove their skills in two runs on the Mattun. The athletes themselves will assess the runs of their competitors on the basis of objective video material according to the following criteria:
- Choice of line
- Skiing skills
- Flying skills
- Energy and smoothness of the run
- Creativity of the touch and goes
The better run will be assessed and the final winner will be determined in a super final with the best three riders the following day on the Hoher Riffler – the starting point of this final run can only e reached by helicopter.
At the Winter ISPO in Munich, the same place where speedriding won last year's Brand New Award, the winner of the first event of this kind will be presented this year. On Tuesday, the 29th of January 2008 at 17.45h, the Brand New Stage will be completely dedicated to the world's best speedriders.
