Hi, my name is Leire Fernández. My discipline is mountain running. My friends call me Leire. I was born on 10 July 1998 in Renteria, Gipuzkoa. My special talent is my ability to fight. My philosophy of life is Keep breathing pure mountain air, follow the dogs, have a vision.... The most important person in my life is my dog, Iron-Bolt. My favourite food is oat bread. My favourite music is anything modern and cheerful.

Aged just 18, Leire Fernández is already one of Spain's most promising trail and mountain running athletes, and the youngest world champion in the history of Canicross (cross country running with dogs for those not in know).

Fernández is at her happiest in the mountains with her family, her dog, and running hard. Her passion for the sport is as big as her eternal smile, and her motivation comes more from the emotions of running than results. "After three days you've forgotten them," she says.

With this pasionate motivation, it's impossible to image Fernández not becoming one of the world's best trail and mountain runners.
