René Wildhaber is one of the all-time greats of MTB enduro, but he refuses to be called a pro. When he's not winning contests all over the world, he's back in his native Switzerland working at his carpenter's bench or milking cows in his parents' shed.
Wildhaber spends his winters as a ski instructor but still occasionally finds time to break away to show the youngsters how it's done. In 2008 the six-time Megavalanche Alp d’Huez Champion left Olympic gold medallist Julien Absalon and U23 world champion Nino Schurter trailing in his wake at the Avalanche Cup on Reunion island. In the years since, Wildhaber has continued to prove he can still mix it with the best of them. Other highlights include taking the win at the Trek Bike Attack Lenzerheide in 2011 and 2012, and getting a podium finish at the third stage of the 2014 Enduro World Series in Valloire, France.
Aside from the contest scene, Wildhaber is also known for his legendary sequences in the Kranked movie collection, and continues to inspire riders around the world with his infectious style and stamina.
