Michal ‘Marosana’ Maroši ranks among the best-known Czech cyclists and is now a top name on the UCI World Cup circuit. After achieving great success in the golden years of BMX racing, Michal made the leap into the world of mountain biking in the late 1990s, winning the European Championship in Dual Slalom in 1998.
Michal was the first Czech to receive an invitation to the Winter X Games and followed that up with impressive home victories at Red Bull Snowmania in 2000, Czexh 4X in 2001, the Champion of Czech in 2000 and 2003, and Czech Downhill in 2009. He also raced at speeds of around 100kph on an iced slope at the Siemens Mobile Snow King event and appreared twice at the Red Bull Race Down to the Middle of the Earth underground race. And he's also tried bungee jumping – on his bike, of course.
In 2010 he achieved several Top 10 positions during the UCI MTB World Cup rounds – including a win in Slovenia – and ranked 4th in the 4X World Cup in South Africa in 2011. Michal has also become a familiar face on the 4X Pro Tour.
Aside from competing, Michal also enjoys building tracks, sharing his experience with young riders at the Marosana DH&4X Camps. And, at the close of each season, Michal organises a legendary bike racing event and huge party, and has produced several volumes of his own ‘Marosana Never Dies’ video to document the event.
Michal's 2013 video of him pulling off an unbelievable wall ride to get ahead of his competitors in JBC 4X Revelations 2013 went viral, just a few seconds before it looked like he was out of the race after suffering a fall. But that’s what the man known as Marosana does best: he will never give up trying to get ahead of everyone.Read more
